Hey Everyone
I have now had time to paddle the Alpha 90 for the past couple of months and now I am finally convinced to switch from my beloved Flying Squirrel. Here are the 5 big reasons that I am switching and a couple videos of me testing the Alpha.
1. That Bow Rocker – You know that rapid where you are hesitant because you might stall out if your bow stalls in that pour-over or curler? Or that boof rock that’s a little taller and more vertical than you would like? Well, that bow rocker takes care of that. It rides up and over everything!
2. She’s Nimble – When you think of a 9′ boat sometimes you get something that has dominating edges that are trippy or make the boat hard to turn. This thing turns on a dime and carves off the tail, or bow, like no one’s business. The big key for me here was dialing in where I put my seat. Adjusting your trim to the kick rocker really changes the handling performance. I like how a quick tip forward engages the bow and carves tight turns for things like Eddie turns, or tilt-back to engage the tail for longer carving turns. Then the really fun one is finding the tail control when you come out of slides going fast! The combination of a narrower platform combined with the Braaap kick rocker seems to make the Nimble happen.
3. Stability – Even though the Alphas are narrower platforms the secondary stability is super bomber. You might have noticed what a nice ass it has. 🙂
4. Speed – Yes it’s a 9′ boat for a reason. It’s fast. I would even say a great combination of both worlds. Fast but it’s easy to control that speed.
5. Comfort – As always we focus on our boats being the most comfortable and easy to adjust in the industry. Bad Ass outfitting combined with a narrower and slightly lower deck and knee height makes it easy to control the boat. That lower deck gives you more space for strokes and less knuckle and elbow banging on the boat.
