|
|
Hi
I know the hatch on the XP9 is not 100% sealed - ie. need to use dry-bags for things.... But mine seems to let in quite a lot of water????
Got to the stage where I just fill it with airbags when I don't need to carry anything.
Any ideas or fixes?
Thanks |

Hey Defender
The best thing you could do is fill the hatch with water and see where it comes out. That will give you a better idea of what is going on. Once you get that figured out drop us a line again and we can help you out.
Some places to watch are...
From the hatch
Under the lower part of the hatch where its attached to the boat itself.
The skeg system where the skeg comes out of the boat.

| One thing to check is the skeg attachment points. There are two places that may need a little tightening. The screw at the lowest point of the skeg box and the top nut that holds the skeg cable located on top... don't crank on them but you will be amazed what a quarter of a turn will do.....thats the first thing I would check. Hi Shane / Woody
Filled the hatch up with water and checked where it came out....
One was the screw where the skeg attached and the other was the screw on the side of the hatch where the skeg cable attaches. The nut where the skeg cable goes through seemed fine.
Gave then a tighten which seemed to work a bit.
Wondered if the best solution would be to get a couple of small rubber washers, remove the screws and install the washers inside the hatch?
Let me know what you think or any other ideas?
Thanks

Those two screws aren't that likely to leak that much, but its possible. I would also check between the rim that is attached to the boat and the boat itself.
